Event brief & challenge information

Please find below full details on each ride, event briefs, info & links to hotels, start locations, and details about your return journey to the UK. Let me know if you need anymore info and as ever please do just get in touch if you need anything.

• EVENT COMMS - Regular emails and WhatsApp messages with specific info on the ride you are on will be sent out in the weeks before the event. They are also available below, in case you missed any. Arun will also book a call/meeting with you all during the first week of September. Whilst on the rides, we predominately use WhatsApp (General, Support team & Emergency), What Three Words (Please download App) and verbal & radio comms.

• HOTEL & DINNER NIGHT BEFORE EACH EVENT - The night before the event we book rooms in a hotel near the start for support team members (who want them) and go for dinner. It is not mandatory for the support team to stay the night before and go for dinner, but it is an opportunity to meet others and ease your journey on the morning of the event. We tend to arrive around 6.30/7.00pm at the hotel and then go for dinner locally. The hotel & dinner costs for the support team are covered by TFA, just please email Arun know if you want to reserve a place. If you are arriving later in the evening, that’s fine, just call Arun when you arrive. We also sometimes have the customers staying at the same hotel or joining us for dinner.

• EVENT START TIME - On the first day of the challenge support team members should arrive between 8.00am-8.30am. If this is not possible please do let Arun know. Whilst you are at the event all food, hotel and travel costs are covered by TFA.

• RETURN TO UK - This is by Eurostar unless you have agreed with an alternative with TFA. The times of each are booked below.

• BIKE RETURN - Bikes will be brought back to Tunbridge Wells & London (St Pancras). If you are not picking your bike up after the challenge TFA can store your bike in TW for free for as long as you need. We will be in London (on certain dates and times) after the challenges so arrange to meet.

• INSURANCE - Cycling Guides need cycling insurance, which TFA will re-imburse you for. The company we use is called Yellow Jersey. If you are doing one event, go onto their website and select a 5-Day, Bike Policy at the Performance level. Cost approx £35, please use code TFALTD10 to get a 10% discount at the checkout. If you are doing more than one ride, do get the 30-day policy as approx £55-£60. Please email me your receipt and we’ll re-imburse you the cost.

Beds in twin rooms are booked in the hotels listed below for support team members who want them. Bikes can also be stored in the rooms overnight and there is parking available locally. You will need to pay for parking but give Arun the ticket and you will be reimbursed.

If you are travelling from Tun Wells, we have vehicles going up to the hotels at approx 4.30pm on the day before the event starts. We can take your kit if you drop it off at Arun’s house by 12pm on the day before the event. There also may be space for in the vehicles, if not we’ll reimburse your train fare if you give us your ticket.
